National Blind Football League
The FA National Blind Football League currently includes six teams playing at thePoint4 both on our superb indoor futsal pitch and the astro pitch where the recent IBSA Blind World Football Championships took place. Current teams include Everton, Worcester Blind, Middlesex & Home Counties, Sporting Club Albion, RNCB Academy and - the newest addition - Leicester. They are all competing for the coveted National League Title.
The teams will play 24 games each lasting 25 minutes throughout the 2010/11 season. Six fixture dates mean four games a fixture. Each team includes at least one current England International and then there are a number of ex international players, as well as new development players who will be striving to one day gain international honours.
The current champions are Worcester who are led by England International Keryn Seal ably supported by fellow internationals Will Norman, Robin Williams and Keeper Lewis Skyers. Sporting Club Albion (Formally West Brom) were runners up thanks largely to a number of experienced blind football players such as Darren Harris, Lee Greatbatch and one of England's newest recruits Simon Hill. Middlesex and Home Counties came in third thanks to the stewardship of England Captain David Clarke and goalkeeper Dan James. The RNCB Academy side have less experience than other teams, but still came in fourth place last season and were represented by England star Dan English. Meanwhile Everton propped up the league, but this was largely down to the squad having to forfeit a number of games.
Once the league has finished and the champions were crowned the teams took part in the Bryan Aarons cup. This eventually contested League Champions Worcester with bottom team Everton, and logic went out of the window with Everton winning 5-2.
